November 29 is #GivingTuesday and Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the U.S. and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

“Waggin Wheels” is the project selected by Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers, “SDWR,” for this year’s #Giving Tuesday campaign.  SDWR is one of the nation’s leading and largest providers of service dogs to adults and children coping with invisible disabilities.  Invisible disabilities are defined as Type 1 Diabetes, Autism, Seizure Disorder, and PTSD.  SDWR’s highly trained service dogs improve and often save the lives of the people they serve.  SDWR has over 500 service dogs working across the country and around the world.  Currently, SDWR has over 400 families waiting to receive a service dog from the Organization.

SDWR is unique in that none of the receiving families must ever travel in order to receive their service dog or participant in team training.  SDWR realizes that individuals coping with Autism, Seizure Disorder and even Diabetes often have difficulty traveling.  Individuals coping with symptoms of PTSD face untold anxiety as they travel or are introduced into new environments.

“Because we care about the people we serve, we deliver each service dog to the client and then stay with the client and ‘service dog team’ for an initial one week,” says SDWR Founder and President Dan Warren.  “Then we return every 90 days for a period of up to two years to continue training and to ensure the team is working well together.”

Lucinda Williams, Director of Development for SDWR adds, “the Organization has experienced incredible growth with so many families waiting to receive an amazing service dog from us.  SDWR needs a new travel trailer to transport its service dogs to their new owners as well as to take the service dogs to national events sponsored by other awareness organizations like AutismSpeaks and the American Diabetes Association.”

SDWR must raise $35,000 to purchase a fully heated and air conditioned trailer with a wash station that will provide safe, comfortable travel conditions for the amazing service dogs they deliver.  “Our goal is to use #GivingTuesday to help us raise funds for the purchase of the custom-built service dog trailer,” says Williams, “and we ask everyone to join hands with us by making a donation and giving the gift of hope these dogs provide to so many families and individuals around the United States.”
