ServersCheck Is Expanding Its Range Of Environmental Sensors

ServersCheck, a Belgian company specialized in monitoring the availability and performance of server rooms, announced that it has extended its range of environmental sensors.

At the Gitex Exhibition, ServersCheck, a Belgian company specialized in monitoring the availability and performance of server rooms, announced that it has extended its range of environmental sensors. These IP, PoE and SNMP environmental sensors monitor the conditions under which systems are operating and which are also an important factor with regard to availability. ServersCheck is the only company in the world to produce solutions to monitor system availability and performance while monitoring the conditions under which they are running. In addition to sensors that monitor temperature, power losses, humidity and flooding, they are now adding sensors that monitor air flow, impacts, cold rooms, air quality, and fuel tank level (for generators).

For server rooms... and other technical environments

"Given the great success of our environmental sensors for server rooms and in order to meet growing market demand, we have decided to expand our offering in this area," explains Maarten Van Laere, CEO of ServersCheck. "In addition to our 'traditional' sensors, we now offer tools to monitor the flow of air in server racks as well as any impacts if the equipment is moved. We are also leaving the environment of server rooms in order to provide remote control sensors to other technical facilities (such as GSM antennas, mining, oil or gas sectors, industrial refrigerators, tunnels, etc.). We are launching sensors that can check cold temperatures (for refrigerators, cold rooms, etc.), air quality (for tunnels, mines, etc.) and fuel level (for tanks) onto the market."

How does it work?

The sensors are used to monitor the conditions under which equipment is operating. They communicate via SNMP with the ServersCheck software application or any other Network Management System software. They are the size of a credit card and can easily be integrated into existing rooms: all that is needed is a network cable. They are powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet). The sensors are also autonomous: they have an integrated web server and can generate e-mail or SNMP alerts if a problem is detected.

Maarten Van Laere: "With our sensors, data centers, server rooms, and now other technical environments that require remote monitoring have an additional level of security. When the ServersCheck monitoring software application receives an alert from one of the sensors announcing a potential risk, it sends a message via SMS or e-mail. What is the goal? Quick communication in order to alert and provide protection from any damage."

Alongside more than 3,000 small, medium and large companies, governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, internationally first-rate firms working in a variety of sectors use monitoring solutions and ServersCheck products and technologies. Among them are: Facebook, Skype, Intel, HP, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Yahoo, BT, Easynet, Siemens, Ericsson, Philips, Citibank and HSBC.
