Serial Entrepreneur - Madhu Avalur Invited at the Unveiling Event of the Much-Anticipated Start Up India, Stand Up India Action Plan by PM Narendra Modi

There was much anticipation regarding the expected audience at the Vigyan Bhavan where Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the much-awaited Start Up India, Stand Up India action plan on 16th January. Senior officials from the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion- the Department in-charge of organizing the event, earlier said” We are expecting young entrepreneurs to serve as the main audience at this event.” This statement was proved true when the event was attended by young entrepreneurs from throughout the country dreaming along with the Prime Minister.

The program is aimed towards developing, the private and the public sectors in India along with individual start up businesses and entrepreneurs referred to as the Personal sector by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Amongst the who’s who of the Entrepreneur world of India, one of the key entrepreneurs’ who were invited at the event was Mr. Madhu Avalur- advisor, serial entrepreneur, investor, board member to several exciting startups. Madhu came up with his very first start up in the month of October in 1995. Since then, he has established 4 companies, acquired 3, invested in 15 and mentored more than 55 companies across Singapore, UK, Malta and Cyprus being countries where has founded companies and India, USA, UK, Netherlands, Germany and Australia where he donned the investor’s hat. Madhu acquired his Masters in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology after graduating in Mechanical Engineering from Sri Krishnadevaraya University.

PM Modi’s Start Up India, Stand Up India action plan or as it is called the “Mann ki baat” is a New Year special gift for all those young business minds who are on the lookout of setting up new, innovative and highly advanced projects throughout India. The main points integrated in this action plan include no inspection for startups during the initial three years of operations with self-certification based compliance being the only means of acknowledgement; Startup India Hub to be the only point of communication or contact; hand-holding mechanism and the inclusion of self-certified environmental regulations. Apart from this, the plan also features the introduction of a mobile application to be started up in a single day. This app will feature an application form for carrying out the registration procedure. There is also a scheme being formulated for making the procedure of filing patents a simple one.

PM Modi’s Start Up India, Stand Up India lays great stress on bringing the YP or the youth property and the IP or the intellectual property on one single plane. All young entrepreneurs, looking to go with individual startups would not have to go through complicated norms or regulations of public procurement with the initiation of the action plan.

All in all, this action plan laid down by the Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi, aims at opening the closed doors to advanced and new ideas. Plans of bringing in a bill for the exit of startups in a period of ninety days and a Rs. 10,000 crore fund for these start ups is also in the making. The vital role of women played in structuring startups is also being stressed on in the action plan.
