Seniors Will Get Classes Thanks to Senator's Grant

Online, January 20, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The MAZii Learning Center will provide digital literacy training for seniors at the Shore Hill Neighborhood Center, located at 9000 Shore Road Brooklyn NY 11209, beginning the week of January 27th 2014 and continuing for a total of 60 sessions spread out over 20 weeks. The sessions will be on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:30 AM. The project is due to be completed by JUNE 25th . All this was made possible thanks to a grant from State Senator Marty Golden who was responsible for providing the center with a computer lab just 2 years ago.

MAZii is unique in this field due to its commitment to inter generational communication. MAZii trains young people in the pedagogical skills required and then places them in centers where they work with the clients in a highly personalized and very patient manner.

MAZii has taught at SHORE HILL before but everyone is happy to have them back again. Sister Fran Picone who is in charge of the center under the auspices of Lutheran Family Health Centers is especially grateful to both Senator Golden and to MAZii's founder Andrea Lawrence.

Claire Nelson, a former student, at Shore Hill wanted to know if her instructor Johnny Vazquez would be back. When GABE told her that Johnny was now a supervisor at MAZii and he would be there in that capacity Claire raved that she would tell the other residents because Johnny was so incredibly patient.
