Conference co-chairs Kristin Hodson and Nicole Miranda invite the Utah community to engage in crucial dialogue around sexuality, inclusivity and community well-being on Sept. 22 and 23 at the Rocky Mountain Sex + Intimacy Summit. Hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Salt Lake City, the conference is comprised of 4 nationally renowned speakers and four sessions focused on a variety of health, sexuality and inclusivity topics. The theme this year is “building bridges” and some featured speakers include Dr. Marty Klein, Al Vernachio, Dr. Tina Shermer Sellers and Bonnie Owens. For a full schedule of events and topics visit www.rockymountainsexsummit.com.

Summit Co-Chair, Kristin Hodson said, “This summit is an invitation to the whole community to engage in thoughtful dialogue around issues like sexuality, intimacy, and wellness that can be tough to discuss. But we are providing the perfect framework for healthcare professionals, counselors, parents, clergy, teachers or anyone to learn more about issues that impact our society and hopefully put caring strategies in place that make our community more inclusive.”

The summit will be informative for people in all professions but especially those who serve in the counseling, social work, mental health, and wellness professions. Those who need continuing education credits to remain certified in their fields can get credit for attending sessions of the Rocky Mountain Sex + Intimacy Summit. Continuing education credits are included in registration.

One key goal of the summit is to discuss issues that are timely and relevant to the local community so co-chairs Kristin Hodson and Nicole Miranda scheduled a conversation between two people with opposing views on pornography that have disagreed publicly in op-eds and other forums. Kristin Hodson, Certified Sex Therapist and Clay Olson, CEO of Fight the New Drug, will engage in a moderated discussion to address the problems around pornography, differences in approaches to helping individuals struggling with pornography, how they found common ground, and how we can reach out to others who are seemingly on the other side of challenging issues with their communities.

The Summit Registration is open now for a wide variety of timely topics and lunch sessions. Early bird registration prices are $125 for students and $250 for general admission.

The Rocky Mountain Sex + Intimacy summit is a place for professionals, medical providers, clergy and parents to gain the sex education they never received but always wanted to. It is for those who see the current problems with the ways we are approaching sexuality and want to contribute to better, brighter solutions. It’s where you can be in a room full of people where many have similar questions eager to find their own answers. The Summit is the first of its kind in the Rocky Mountain West with the goal of bringing together passionate and compassionate individuals to: 1) improve their knowledge and competency around sexuality; 2) address issues of social justice and inclusivity, and 3) provide opportunities to connect professionals in a variety of domains to improve the health and well-being of the community at large.
