Scientologists Celebrate Diversity in Melbourne

Melbourne, Australia, January 11, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The Church of Scientology of Melbourne held a holiday open house that reflected the varied and special cultures of the region. Known as Multicultural City, nearly a quarter of Melbourne’s population comes from countries where English is not the native tongue.

In keeping with the unique character of the city, the Church held its holiday open house dedicating it to diversity and the basic human rights that unite people worldwide. Those attending came from a wide array of countries and beliefs, but all shared the common purpose represented in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The program began with an acknowledgement of the original inhabitants of the land, the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nations.

The afternoon’s events included entertainment and an awards presentation to honor deserving volunteers committed to ensuring the rights of others. Also featured was a human rights workshop on the importance of education and communication in fostering human rights.

Those attending connected with people of many different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs as the presentation and workshop brought human rights to life.

The program was held in the Public Information Center and Chapel of the Melbourne Church, an Ideal Scientology Organization opened in January 2011. Scientologists support a wide array of humanitarian and social betterment activities and Ideal Scientology Organizations are configured to make these broadly available and provide a meeting ground for the entire community.
