About the Institute
The foundation stone of IIA Group was laid by Late Captain R.N. Sinha in the year 1981. Captain Sinha was also the founder chairman of Aviators Co-operative, the pioneer operator to start non-scheduled MRO operations in the year 1968.
In the early 1980s when aeroplanes and helicopters existed more in dreams than in skies, IIA Group was amongst the first in India to set up an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training institute. When a good science laboratory in a college was considered an achievement, IIA Group brought in flying machines as - Heavy pressurized Aircraft Hawker HS-125, Learjet-24, Bonanza A-35, Helicopter Sa-318C, Eurocopter EC-120B - for practical training of students. By far and large IIA Group has contributed significantly in shaping up technical jobs and careers in Indian Aviation Industry. The institutes within the group are duly approved by Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
