Sangam University Bhilwara Rajasthan Celebrates Rabindra Jayanti 2014

In the words of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore "The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence."

Nobel Laureate Tagore (07 May 1861 - 07 August 1941) is a Poet, Novelist, Musician, Painter, social reformer, Playwright and freedom fighter all rolled in one. However, it has been a tradition to observe Rabindra Jayanti always on Pochishe Boishakh (Twenty fifth day in the Month of Baisakh) and for the year 2014 with Poila Baishak falling on 15 April, Pochishe is on 09 May 2014.

Tagore modernised Bengali art by spurning rigid classical forms and resisting linguistic strictures. The novels, stories, songs, dance-dramas, and essays of Gurudev dealt in topics covering political and social issues. Gitanjali (Song Offerings), Gora (Fair-Faced), and Ghare-Baire (The Home and the World) are some of his best-known works, and his verse, short stories, and novels were acclaimed for their lyricism, colloquialism, naturalism, and unnatural contemplation. His compositions were chosen by two nations as national anthems: India's 'Jana Gana Mana' and Bangladesh's 'Amar Sonar Bangla'.

To mark the 153rd birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, Sangam University Bhilwara organized a colourful function in which students and faculty enthusiastically participated. Prof BR Natarajan President - Vice Chancellor offered floral tributes to Vishwa Kavi Tagore portrait specially commissioned by Miss Sonu Chowdhury Management faculty at Sangam University and addressed the audience highlighting the significance of the day.
