San Mateo Downtown Businesses Invite You for a Holiday Art Walk to Help Kids with Cancer
Online, November 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The Kids & Art Foundation (K&A) announced today the Kids & Art Holiday Art Walk in partnership with San Mateo downtown businesses on Thursday, December 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. The walk celebrates the Foundation's 1st anniversary, with a goal to raise funds for the upcoming year.
Kids & Art is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides an avenue for fighting cancer through art. Caring artists from the San Francisco Bay Area, including Pixar and Dreamworks have already donated time and guidance to K&A children and their family members. The resulting art is sold yearly at fundraisers that sustain the Foundation.
The walk is a great opportunity to find exquisite and one-of-a-kind holiday gifts, including prints, paintings, ceramic masks, watercolors, and photography. "During this holiday season, what better way than to give your loved ones 'a gift that keeps on giving', while helping to support our local community?" asks Purvi Shah, Kids & Art's founder and the mother of an eight -year-old diagnosed with leukemia in 2005.
Six San Mateo businesses will showcase and sell K&A's artworks, including B Street, B Street Books, Draeger's Market, Living Peacefully, Red Brick Pizza, and Sweet Breams. During the walk, free wine, soda and hors d'Å"uvres will be offered at Red Brick Pizza. B Street Books will also serve wine, while Taiyaki samples will be provided at Sweet Breams. Dessert and champagne will be available for all after 8:30 p.m. at Living Peacefully. At Draeger's, the first five people to purchase a piece of Kids & Art artwork will receive a $20 gift certificate for Draeger's Cooking School.
K&A artworks will be on display for five days prior to the Holiday Art Walk, starting on Saturday, December 11, and will be available for purchase on the evening of Thursday, December 16, during the Art Walk. To learn more about the Art Walk and K&A, please visit www.kidsandart.org.
