Sage Corps Launches Entrepreneurial Semester Study Abroad Program

Sage Corps, a global entrepreneurship program that sends top college students ("fellows") to work with tech startups, unveils its new semester study abroad program in five global cities: Buenos Aires, Dublin, London, Santiago and Sydney.

While abroad in the program city of their choice, Sage Corps fellows will enroll in and take courses at foreign universities with local students. Outside the classroom, fellows will work alongside local entrepreneurs to build scalable solutions to real problems.

Professional programming provides fellows with weekly events such as fireside chats with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, company tours, and networking events. Like Sage Corps' other programs, all semester program options include housing, medical insurance, and assistance from local Sage Corps staff members in each program city.

But perhaps the most compelling aspect of this entrepreneurial study abroad program is its value; the cost of tuition, housing, programming, and insurance of this semester program rivals most in-state public university semester costs. Moreover, it may also generate significant savings (approximately ten thousand dollars) for those students who pay out-of-state tuition at their American universities to study abroad. At some universities, students may also get pre-approval to use financial aid and scholarships for the Sage Corps program.

"After running a successful pilot semester program last spring, we are confident that students and their families will walk away with a far better return on their investment than if they had chosen a traditional study abroad program; we offer both a professionally-focused and academic opportunity at a lower price point that still gives students time to travel and explore their host city," said Matt Meltzer, Founder and CEO of Sage Corps.

"Without the additional time that extra-curricular activities and student clubs typically require at home, students in semester abroad programs have a lot more flexibility. We can offer a constructive opportunity to invest that extra time into immersive professional opportunities. Students come home with incredible work experience, new professional skills, and a global network."

The Sage Corps semester abroad program is the ideal opportunity for those students aiming to learn beyond the classroom. Throughout the program, fellows contribute meaningful work to their host startup, build tangible and marketable skills, and engage with their host city's professional community.

"The outcomes make the added professional responsibility worthwhile," Meltzer added.

"Alumni of our existing eight-week summer program go on to get some of today's most competitive entry level jobs. We feel that fellows who participate in our semester program will be even more attractive to prospective employers."
