Los Angeles, CA, March 29, 2016 (Newswire.com) - SabbaticalHomes.com, an online listing service for scholars needing to find or offer temporary accommodations, will be exhibiting at the the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) Conference & Bookfair in Los Angeles from March 30-April 2, 2016. Nadege Conger, Sabbatical Homes' founder looks forward to inviting AWP writers, teachers, students, and editors to join the Sabbatical Homes community.
"We have great respect for literary scholars and are hosting a virtual Book Fair on our blog comprised of works written by the talented members of our community," says Conger who founded the site in 2000 to foster an equitable system that supports scholarly travel. "It's amazing to learn what works our members have written, some even while staying in writing retreat homes they find on our site."
Author Kristin Duncombe (Five Flights Up… ) said "We have had the pleasure of meeting incredibly dynamic, smart, interesting people from all over the world who have not just taken care of our apartment, but who have become friends. Sabbatical Homes has been a real gift that way." The 2016 SH Members' Book Fair (http://blog.sabbaticalhomes.com/2016-sabbatical-homes-book-fair-2/) includes contributions from Duncombe and the following authors (among others): Elizabeth Farrelly, Madeleine Touria Godard, James Heffernan, Konrad Jarausch, Véronique Maumusson, and Joel Williamson. Member Madeliene Touria Godard had this to say about the Book Fair, "I am truly impressed by this compilation and never suspected sabbaticalhomes "housed" SO many authors! Reading abroad for months insured!! Great idea and many thanks.""We have had the pleasure of meeting incredibly dynamic, smart, interesting people from all over the world who have not just taken care of our apartment, but who have become friends. Sabbatical Homes has been a real gift that way."
Sabbaticalhomes.com provides a worldwide listing service that writers, scholars, artists, and educators from all levels and assignment can use to find or offer temporary accommodations. Whether looking for someone to care for their home while they are gone, or finding a home to stay in at their destination, searching for a match within a like-minded pool of individuals helps keep rents low and hospitality high. Members can post their property for home rental, exchange, sitting or sharing and can also register as a home tenant and/or sitter.
The site offers reduced listing fees for academics. "It's important for all scholars to have the opportunity to travel and share their ideas," says Conger. Posting a home offered listing is US$45 for academics (US$65 for non-academics) and it is free for academics to post a home wanted listing (US$20 for non-academics). Listings remain active for up to 14 months, can be updated at any time, and are renewable. Instead of paying a commission, listers are encouraged to send a voluntary service fee when they find a match.
SabbaticalHomes.com is a trusted, privately-owned site dedicated to the travel and housing needs of academics, scholars, writers, artists, and friends worldwide, with listings in over 55 countries. Proudly run by its founder since 2000, the online listing service serves scholars searching for the perfect tenant, or home to rent, exchange, sit or share.
