Rumpusoz Reveals The Real Truth About Being An Entrepreneur
Sydney, Australia, May 8, 2015 (Newswire.com) - RumpusOZ, a new Australian documentary about inventors taking their ideas to market, will expose the ‘warts and all’ reality of entrepreneurial struggles by focusing on the people and stories behind the inventions.
RumpusOz will follow several entrepreneurs on their individual ‘idea-to-investment’ journeys.
Unlike television shows such as Shark Tank and Dragon’s Den which reward or ridicule inventors for audience entertainment, RumpusOz will highlight the opportunities that currently support the Australian entrepreneurial spirit.
The six-part documentary, due to air in October, is looking for entrepreneurs to become part of the show.
RumpusOZ promises a glimpse of what really happens when a new business engages with potential investors, beyond the public vilification seen on popular television.
Co-founder Thom Saunders said the program will celebrate entrepreneurs and the people who gravitate towards them.
“Programs about start-ups and disruptive technologies on mainstream television and the internet only hint at the risks and challenges entrepreneurs face, and offer nothing insightful about the pain, joy or sacrifices they’ve experienced to bring their products and services to market,” Saunders said.
“While audiences are keen to know what an invention will do for them, they also want to know the story behind it – who or what was the necessity that gave birth to that idea.
“Investors invest in people with the passion and potential they believe they can trust to turn an idea into a commercial money-spinner. Most investors have been very successful businesspeople themselves and are keen to give back and build up the next generation of Aussie success stories.
“It’s important to highlight those relationships and not just focus on the pitch.”
Saunders has joined forces with television producer Glenn Wilkinson and serial entrepreneur Leigh Angus to tell the stories of inventors and the co-working spaces, incubators, accelerators, mentors, service providers and investors that are supporting new ventures in Australia right now.
Their aim is to encourage people to start their own business with information about advice, funding and services that are available to help reduce failure rates and frequently experienced frustrations.
“Many inventors and innovators just don’t know where to start or what is required to make their ideas commercially viable,” explained Angus.
“They’re rarely given direction or access to people who have the skills and experience to help turn the idea into a scalable business.
“By opening up the curtain a little to what happens behind the scenes, we’re hoping the audience will feel part of the journey and, like investors, have a genuine desire to help the inventors along by actually buying their products or services.”
Like other business accelerators in Australia and overseas, the founders of RumpusOz will invest time, resources and capital in the ventures featured in the documentary.
By bringing the audience along for the ride via media exposure, the RumpusOZ crew hopes the documentary will propel new ventures to market faster than traditional business accelerators.
Inventors wanting to join the show need to submit their application via the RumpusOZ website before Sunday 10 May 2015.
