Roundtable Analytics Delivers Predictive Analytics Services for Three Emergency Departments at Vidant Health

Roundtable Analytics, Inc., a Software as a Service (SaaS) and consulting company focused on improving the operational and financial performance of emergency departments, recently delivered its predictive analytics services at three Vidant Health emergency departments in North Carolina.

Vidant Health’s flagship medical center in Greenville, North Carolina, manages the three emergency departments that collectively serve well over 100,000 patients annually.  These complementary EDs include a large, Level I trauma center, a smaller ED for less acute patients, and a pediatric ED.  Vidant Health’s EDs serve a critical need for the local community as well as serving the academic medicine through their affiliation with East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine.

“Ours is an extremely challenging emergency care environment,” said Dr. Tim Reeder, MD, Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Operations.  “Optimizing our nurse staffing with our previous methods was impossible, but Roundtable’s simulation modeling has changed that.”

Brandy Galloway, RN, nurse manager of Vidant Health’s Level I trauma center, is responsible for improving nurse staffing.  Using Roundtable Analytics’ Emergency Department Strategy Lab, or EDSL, Galloway has been able to consider several comprehensive staffing models and is now able to project the financial and operational impacts of each model using EDSL simulation.  In addition to helping her solve her staffing challenge, Galloway remarked, “EDSL is way easier to use than I anticipated!”
