Rooney Mara, Youngest Contender to Fame.

Online, December 29, 2011 (Newswire.com) - With the release of David Fincher's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" which is an adaptation from Stieg Larsson's "Millennium Trilogy" - sold millions of copies already, Rooney Mara is soon going to be really famous. She portrays a pale, punked and pierced girl with extra ordinary computing skills; named Lisbeth Salander.

Soon Mara would be a known face and name. She appears small yet fierce in the film, an androgynous Swede who has a photographic memory. She goes on with her life with traumatic memories of childhood still hanging heavy in her head. With negligibly small credits previously like a few scenes in "The Social Network" and then in "Nightmare on Elm Street", Mara was much behind the big stars. But now her portrayal of Salander has gotten her a nomination for the Golden Globe.

The minute she got the role back in August 2011, she rushed off to Stockholm to prepare herself. She wanted to witness the culture underpinning Larsson's book. Mara hails from New York, 26. She realized that the key to success in her role was to know more about women who have met physical assault and autistic kids. Her time in Sweden was vital for her.

She also stood against beliefs that said why not shoot in America if it is going to be an American version of a Swedish novel? She adds that without knowing Sweden it was difficult to understand the film or characters.

Mara made serious preparations for the character and was aware of the challenges involved. It took about a week for Mara and Yorick Wageninen to shoot the various scenes. Yorick plays her legal guardian in the film.

In an interview she recollects the hour long discussions with David about the character and about the tattoo that she sports in the film. On David choosing her for the role she says, it is because both of them are equally hard working.
