Ringo Starr Autographs Drums for Charity

Ringo Starr has autographed three 14" Remo Buffalo Frame Drums to be used to benefit Southern California nonprofit, Arts and Services for Disabled. This is the first time Ringo has put his signature on a Remo Buffalo Drum making these drums exclusive to this event. The Beatles drummer responded to a request by friend Remo Belli, Founder of Remo, Inc., Valencia-based manufacturer of drumheads, world percussion and kids percussion instruments. Remo and Ringo have had a long-standing relationship since the first days that the Beatles invaded U.S. shores with their Liverpool beat. Remo drumheads have been Ringo's preferred drumhead ever since.

Arts and Services for Disabled, Inc. (ASD) is a locally based 501(c)3 organization that works with more than 300 developmentally disabled adults in Southern California, offering music and arts therapy as part of its creative arts-oriented curriculum. In operation for more than thirty years, ASD has recently been impacted by shortfalls in the California State budget, and will use the Ringo, limited edition, drums as a featured auction item in a September fundraiser currently being planned.

Ringo Starr and his nonprofit Lotus Foundation work to advance social welfare in diverse areas including, but not limited to: substance abuse, cerebral palsy, brain tumors, cancer, battered women and their children, homelessness and animals in need.

"We're truly blessed and excited to be working with Ringo for the benefit of our students. Ringo is truly a 'superstar' in all senses of the word," said Helen Dolas, Founder and CEO of Arts and Services for Disabled, Inc. "With a little help from our friends, we can make a difference," said Ringo Starr. "I'd like to thank the Arts and Services for Disabled for the great work they do."

Helen Dolas explains, "The event being planned will celebrate our ArtBeat for Humanity initiative where students create art on Remo frame drums. It's one of the earliest forms of personal artistic embellishment on a unique item which allows for self-expression - very appropriate given some of our artists' challenges."
