Ride the Beaches Fundraiser
Online, April 15, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Gear up and head out to the 10th Annual Ride the Beaches event hosted by Sharky's on the Pier - the only beachfront restaurant in Venice. The annual fundraising event will take place at Sharky's on the Pier on Sunday, April 29, 2012. With its panoramic view of the sparkling Gulf of Mexico, Sharky's on the Pier is the perfect setting for a family bike ride.
Every year, the Sharky's on the Pier staff dedicates its time to putting together the exciting and purpose-driven event designed to raise money for the fight against cancer. For the tenth year in a row, every penny of the proceeds over the cost will be given to Livestrong, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Last year, Sharky's on the Pier raised $16,000 for Livestrong, and over the past five years, the event has raised more than $62,000.
"We're delighted to do our part," says Marc Alton, Sharky's on the Pier chef and the founder of Ride the Beaches. "What better way to support Livestrong than with a bike riding event of our own?"
The Sharky's on the Pier bike ride, which is open to riders of all ages, starts bright and early Sunday morning with registration at 7a.m., followed by a complimentary continental breakfast for all riders. Participants can choose the ride that will best fit their abilities: 15-mile, 35-mile, or 65-mile. Start times-35-mile and 65-mile: 8AM and 15-mile: 9AM. Sharky's will also serve a full lunch for participants from 11a.m. to 2p.m. with beer available at noon.
All riders are encouraged to pre-register for the ride to secure a place. Riders will be expected to obey all Florida traffic laws and wear an ANSI or Snell approved helmet.
