Rick De La Guardia Launches a Consulting Engineering Firm, DLG Engineering, Inc., to Address the Eve
Online, October 6, 2009 (Newswire.com) - DLGE aims to improve building envelope products performance under hurricane, flood and blast hazards by helping improve building codes and standards among other things. De La Guardia used his entire life savings to open DLGE after years of identifying countless problems in the building envelope products industry, many preventable. "Throughout my years as a consultant, having reviewed, designed and inspected hundreds of projects in the state of Florida, I have identified many flaws in the design, review method and installation of the building envelope products that are our first line of defense during a disaster," said De La Guardia.
A native of Miami and UM alum, De La Guardia aims to give back to the community, "As Floridians, the integrity of the building envelope structure is, in most cases, our first line of defense during a hurricane or flood. Our goal is to provide the community, via our structures, a safer building envelope. We plan on educating the public, architects, building officials and building inspectors on the proper design, review and installation of glazing products through a series of presentations and seminars." A website has been set up, www.dlgengineering.com, and people are invited to sign up for the mailing list to receive free important information regarding building envelope products and more.
Throughout his career, De La Guardia has worked with and consulted for developers, building envelope product manufacturers, general contractors, architects, window and shutter contractors, and building inspectors. In a short time, DLG can boast projects and clients such as The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus, University of Miami Rosenthal Marine Center, Van Cleef & Arpels, and many others.
DLG Engineering will help design, analyze, investigate or inspect any and all hazard related issues affecting building envelope products. The company has five well rounded individuals with a combined 52 years of experience focusing on De La Guardia's goal of improving building structures for a safer Florida. They specialize in hurricane, flood and blast mitigation design, analysis and inspections of building envelope products.
