Revolutionary "All Grip, No Slip" MacWet Gloves for Riders Available in the US Through Shires USA
Online, July 14, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Malcolm Ainge, Managing Director of Shires Equestrian Products, has announced the Shires is the exclusive US dealer for the revolutionary "All grip, no slip" MacWet gloves. "Now riders in North America have a glove that provides maximum grip and feel across all climatic conditions including rain and humidity, as well as through water jumps and mud spray, resulting in improved performance and rider safety," said Ainge. "The MacWets are used throughout Europe, where competitors and teams at the highest levels in a variety of equestrian sports use them. They're official glove for the Horse Guards in London, and 95% of professional racing jockeys in the UK use them."
Shires is offering two types of gloves in both long and short cuff versions: the MicroMesh, which was developed specifically for warmer weather and designed to aid circulation around the hand, and the Climatec, developed specifically for cooler weather, with a windproof, water-resistant and fleece-lined material on the back of the hand for comfort and warmth.
The constant grip at all times is thanks to the glove's breathable palm fabric, Aquatec. Whether it be perspiration, humidity or precipitation, Aquatec ensures comfort, without compromising grip performance. Any moisture on the skin-be it perspiration, humidity or precipitation-is wicked to the outside of the material where it is used to increase grip. The skin tight fit of the MacWets enables the rider to make changes to tack without having to remove the gloves.
The MacWets have received rave reviews from top riders, including Oliver Townend, 2009 Badminton and Burghley winner, who has said, "My MacWets are an essential part of my
kit, I ride in them at home and in competition. I go nowhere without them." Maria Eilberg, a member of the UK silver medal team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, "As well as being comfortable, durable and windproof, MacWets allow for maximum feel to the rein, enhancing the connection to the horse's mouth."
"In the UK, we've found riders also appreciate the durability of these gloves, and the fact that they can be machine washed and air dried," continued Ainge. "We learned recently of another use for these gloves. Para-equestrian Natalie Povey, who was born born spina bifida and has no use in her legs, has been using MacWets for four years. She's found that gloves are perfect for riding as they don't interfere with the feel the rider has of the reins and the contact the horse is giving-but she also uses them with her crutches. She says, 'Wearing gloves when walking with crutches normally causes issues that you wouldn't believe as they slip against the handle and also against the skin making walking extremely difficult, especially when you can't stand without the support of crutches but the MacWet gloves are different as they provide me with the ultimate grip and don't slip whatsoever.'"
The MacWet Micromesh equestrian gloves-which are available in black, brown and white- retail at $44.95, while the MacWet Climatec gloves retail for $49.95, and are available in black and brown. The gloves are now available at tack shops through the U.S. and Canada that sell Shires equestrian products, and online at shop.ShiresEquestrian.com.
