Review of the TaylorMade TR3 True Path Putting Trainer

Putting accounts for a large percentage of shots during a game. Improving your putting will therefore pay massive dividends. For this reason, putting aids have been popular for years. This article reviews TaylorMade's latest aid - the TR3 True Path.

TaylorMade have very recently released their TR3 True Path Putting Trainer. I have been searching for reviews of this aid, but it is so new that reviews are currently very thin on the ground. However, I have been able to find the two video reviews.

The first video is a short promotional video made by TaylorMade's Vice President of Marketing/Communications (Gregg Hemphill) at the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show.

This video demonstrates how small and lightweight the putting aid is to enable it to be carried around inside your golf bag. It also demonstrates the different set-up options that are possible - i.e. different guides to allow for different putting paths; different path widths to cater for different size putter heads; face angle lines to ensure the putter face is square at impact.

Gregg also explains that the TR3 True Path is the result of careful analysis of thousands of putting paths recorded in the TaylorMade Putting Studio.

The second video is an actual review of the TR3 True Path made by the Director of Instruction of Nicklaus Academies Worldwide (Mike Malaska).

Mike explains the keys to successful putting, and he demonstrates how the TR3 True Path helps you to master them.

He demonstrates that the True Path is suitable for players who have a straight back and forward putting stroke, and also for players who have a slight inside-square-inside putting arc.

He also demonstrates how the True Path helps you to find the right putting stroke for you, and to ingrain the correct feel of solidly striking the back of the ball. He points out that this will significantly improve the consistency of your putting.
