It is quite surprising to know that around 69% to 53% of senior and middle class students had office stationery in their school bags, which includes highlighters, permanent markers, glue sticks, CDs, pen drive, paint, and expensive pens. Additionally, mobile phones, combs, tablets, cosmetics, etc. are some of the other additional things that were present in their bags.
Carrying so many items in a student's bag can make them heavy and hard to carry on shoulders. Study made on the health effects of heavy backpacks have come out with some amazing facts, in which the primary issue is "heavy load can lead to muscles problems, backaches, and stress in nervous system, which is quite dangerous for one's health."
According to the doctors, the maximum weight of a school bag should not be more than one tenth (10%) of a student body weight, but these days it seems to be more than 20%, which is again a big issue.
Physiotherapy experts explains that, to carry a heavy weight bag one child has to lean forward, which leads to developing bad posture, and make extra stress on muscles, spinal cord, and internal ligaments.
