For fine diamond and jewelry lovers, it doesn't get more authentic than John Fulton Diamond Jewelers. Our customers are excited to have an expanded offering, and we're excited to ensure our beloved local store will remain a part of the Southbury community for many years to come. One of the best things about John [Matta] is that he's not just a jeweler, he's also a goldsmith with over 35 years of experience building and designing custom jewelry and performing repairs and restorations.

Gayle O'Neill , Owner, Gayle O'Neill Fine Jewelry

Gayle O’Neill has been associated with the industry for much of her adult life, the last 34 of which she has spent as the owner and operator of her successful local shop. As O’Neill looked toward retirement, she wanted to find the right team to take over the store and to serve her loyal customers, continuing her legacy while adding their own.

John Fulton Diamond Jewelers, owned and operated by John Matta, has a team focused on personal relationships with customers. The team plans to expand the services already offered at the Southbury store, offering a larger inventory, hand-crafted custom pieces, restoration and rebuilding expertise, remounting jewels and professional appraisals.

"One of the best things about John is that he’s not just a jeweler, he’s also a goldsmith with over 35 years of experience building and designing custom jewelry and performing repairs and restorations," according to O’Neill.

Gayle O’Neill has no plans to disappear completely in the near future though, as she and the team from John Fulton Jewelers plan to work together to ensure a smooth transition over the course of the next year at least.

John Matta is looking forward to the collaboration. He said, “The customers are the most important part of everything we do and Gayle and I both know that. Jewelry isn’t just jewelry, it represents the most significant moments and relationships in people’s lives so we want to make sure we are getting right. We’ll take the time to make sure we are.”

Gayle O’Neill will remain active with the business for at least six months and then as a strategic adviser. John Matta will lead the combined team in Southbury and continue to lead the Bethel team as well.
