Refrigeration And Air Conditioning System Mechanic Training At Centennial College Includes Apprenticeship Component
Online, April 1, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Apprenticeship programs are unique offerings in which students learn by doing. Centennial College's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic apprenticeship program leads students to positions in the refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic field.
The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic program is open to apprentices who are already working in the field and whose employer is willing to sponsor them. Studies are completed in three years, with each year covering topics that range from basic to intermediate to advanced. With each level, students attend training sessions with their employer. These sessions not only reinforce what students learn on campus but also offer additional knowledge that will ensure they succeed in the each advancing level.
While on campus at Centennial College, students are taught design, installation and service techniques of heating and air conditioning systems for residential and commercial buildings. Their learning is enhanced through the facilities at Progress Campus (one of the province's largest trades training centres), which are fully equipped with tools of the trade and labs that allow for hands-on practice. Additionally, the program's instructors all have extensive experience and expertise in the field and as such offer advice and personal anecdotes in each air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic course.
Once they finish the offering, students receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to take the exam for their certificate of qualification. If students pass the exam, they qualify for a certificate of apprenticeship from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities that signifies they are certified in their occupation. In order to complete the offering, students must go through three levels of training for the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic apprenticeship at Centennial College.
