'Rediscovering Minnesota's Lost Towns' With Stores and Photos by Rhonda Fochs
Author Rhonda Fochs will share stories and photos of forgotten Minnesota places at a free program this Saturday in Isle, Minnesota. Fochs has traveled for six years, along with her husband and dog, researching the history of lost towns and currently has three books about lost Minnesota communities. Her program can be seen at Sons of Norway Tusenvann Lodge's monthly meeting, 12 noon, January 9th at the Isle Recreation and Education Center in downtown Isle, Minnesota.
Milaca, MN, January 4, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Author Rhonda Fochs has spent years researching the history of Minnesota’s lost towns and her work has produced three books on “Minnesota’s Lost Towns”. Her books showcase towns from central Minnesota and northward which no longer exist. Fochs writes about each one’s creation, what they were like in their prosperous years, why they died and what’s in their place today. Fochs is adamant that the real history of a town is in the people who lived there.
When Fochs becomes aware of a long-gone town, she contacts local historical societies and search the Internet to learn about their former existence. Her research will take her to local libraries and read tons of history books about that area. Fochs, a retired teacher, lives in Lincoln and travels the state with her husband Lenard and their dog, DeeJay, while she researches her books about lost towns.
