RecruitIreland.com, the well known jobsite, celebrates its tenth birthday

Online, November 9, 2009 (Newswire.com) - RecruitIreland.com was established on the 8th November 1999 and has seen plenty of ups and downs in that time.

To celebrate its birthday the team, four of whom have been there since day one, will be "reeling back the years" on the RecruitIreland.com blog over the next 10 days. Jobseekers and Advertisers will also get the opportunity to join in the celebrations with competitions starting for both on the site this week.

Of the 10 years, 2009 has been the most challenging to date and the company has not been immune to the downturn.

According to Tom Crosbie, Managing Director, RecruitIreland.com "2009 has been a particularly challenging year for RecruitIreland.com but thankfully since September sales have started to pick up and we are seeing signs of improvement in market sentiment"

This year the company decided that a sea change was needed to their business model and as a result has recently introduced a complete overhaul of its advertising options. According to Tom "For the first 10 years we sold advertising licences to customers as this was how the Irish market had developed from inception. However, we had been acutely aware of the downsides of this model and so looked to best practice elsewhere. What we found was that the Irish model was out of step with international trends and the changes we have made now deliver a better quality search experience for jobseekers and improved options for advertisers."
