Rate Speeches Introduces The Public Speaking Scholar Contest And Award

Rate Speeches instituted its Public Speaking Scholar Contest to promote interest in public speaking by engaging participants in online speech rating and speech evaluation activities.

Through the Public Speaking Scholar Contest, Rate Speeches seeks to foster passion for public speaking by encouraging the Rate Speeches website visitors to add, rate, review, and evaluate public speakers, speeches, and presentations. The contest starts on June 10, 2011, and ends August 31, 2011. Results are published on September 5, 2011. The contest winner will receive the honorary Public Speaking Scholar Award and $100. The second-place winner gets $50 and the third-place winner gets $20.

Contest participation is conducted online from the Rate Speeches website. The company believes that watching speeches, rating and reviewing speakers and speeches, and evaluating speeches and presentations sharpen the participants' public speaking skills.

No public speaking training is required to participate. The Public Speaking Scholar Contest is based on a point system. Contestants can earn points by adding, rating, and reviewing speakers and speeches. Contestants can also acquire points by using the Speech Evaluator to evaluate, analyze, and critique speeches and presentations. More points are awarded for evaluating speeches, since the speech assessment process requires more effort and skill. Speech evaluation and analysis are intended for those with public speaking or presentation skills training and experience. The Speech Evaluator is an online tool available from the Rate Speeches website; the Speech Evaluator is used to generate interactive, multimedia speech evaluations, speech assessments, critique, feedback, and analysis.
