Boilers with ADD/ADHD, one of the first such student-run groups, will be hosting a public presentation featuring Dr. Ari Tuckman, best selling author of More Attention, Less Deficit: Success Strategies for Adults with ADHD. This advocacy event is being sponsored by Boilers with ADD/ADHD, along with the Disability Resource Center and Division of Student Affairs, on Sunday, April 22nd at 7 p.m. in Purdue's Wertherill Hall, Room 200. Several other events will occur on campus the following day with Dr. Tuckman consulting campus resource providers, faculty and administrators on ADHD strategies and accommodations for college students; another presentation that day will help current and future teachers and school counselors prepare to meet the needs of their students. The schedule for Monday will be announced at the Sunday presentation.

Ari Tuckman, PsyD, MBA, is a psychologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in children and adults. He practices in West Chester, PA. A frequent presenter, he does everything from parent-teacher association meetings to teleclasses to full day continuing education seminars--and likes all of them for different reasons. He does the popular podcast "More Attention, Less Deficit" for adults with ADHD that has 100 episodes and over 750,000 downloads. By understanding how the ADHD brain processes information, strategies can be created for success in everyday situations. Dr. Tuckman describes the executive functions that are involved in ADHD and how they affect the day to day life. He then offers practical strategies to aid in being a more consistent and effective person, creating a pathway to productivity and success.

The Boilers with ADD/ADHD hope to attract new student members that are seeking information about the disorder or who have abandoned successful treatments upon entering college. While testing, coaching and accommodation services are provided to Purdue students with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) through Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Disability Resource Center (DRC), the student group aims to provide social, service, outreach and advocacy opportunities to students that may otherwise resist participation in university provided programs.

One of the missions of BADD is to start and help maintain a local affiliate for Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) that is a resource to all in the Tippecanoe County region. Information about the CHADD affiliation will be available at the event.
