Over the last 20 years, Joanna Flemons has counseled hundreds of individuals facing the losses and challenges associated with infertility.
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo., April 26, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Joanna Flemons, LCSW, CPC, a trauma-informed therapist and professional coach, is set to release her new book in early May 2018. The book “Infertility and PTSD: The Uncharted Storm” explores the connection between certain experiences with infertility and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Flemons has significant experience working with clients who are experiencing these challenges. She specializes in treating women, men and couples struggling with infertility and PTSD at Highlands Ranch Counseling and Coaching, which she owns. Flemons assists individuals and couples with the complicated grief process and post traumatic stress symptoms that often accompany the loss and trauma associated with infertility.
In the book, Flemons writes, “The turbulent unpredictability and repetitive loss from infertility can shatter your dreams and change the way you view yourself and the world. Infertility is a complex reproductive disease with uncertain outcomes. Research now indicates that certain experiences occurring during infertility can trigger symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in some. Facing infertility in the present while regulating intrusive PTSD symptoms from past trauma loss is an enormous challenge.”
“The research that has been done in this field between the connection of infertility and PTSD, I’ve also seen play out first-hand in my practice,” says Flemons. “As a trauma-informed therapist, I have spent thousands of hours helping clients recover and rebuild in the aftermath of infertility trauma and PTSD. I’m excited to be releasing my new book that explores and sheds light on this subject.”
Flemons has been in the field since 1998. She is a trauma-informed therapist and uses trauma-specific treatments to address the diverse impact of trauma on clients.
