Peaceful Stand for Democratic Syria at UN General Assembly

September 26, 2025: Contact information updated.

Syrians from across the United States and Canada will gather for a peaceful stand outside the United Nations Headquarters on Tuesday, September 24, during the UN General Assembly.

Participants represent Syrians from diverse communities - Druze, Alawite, Christian, Muslim, Kurdish, and others - reflecting the pluralism of Syrian society. The peaceful stand is intended to provide context and visibility at a moment when international attention is focused on Syria, including appearances by figures connected to the interim authorities. For many Syrians, this raises important questions about representation, accountability, and the path toward peace and reconciliation.

A Theme of Light and Darkness

The peaceful stand will feature a symbolic theme of light versus darkness, underscoring the contrast between the aspirations of Syrians for dignity, coexistence, and stability, and the ongoing challenges of conflict, displacement, and political exclusion.

Organizers emphasize that the purpose of the stand is not confrontation, but presence - a way for Syrians to affirm their unity and hopes for a future built on inclusion, justice, and peace.

About Voices of Swaida, Druze Nexus

We begin by honoring the souls of our martyrs in Swaida and wishing a speedy recovery for our wounded.

Recently, we have noticed the circulation of fundraising links on social media platforms connected to unverified PayPal accounts based in countries such as Egypt, Turkey, and Cyprus.

In order to prevent members of the diaspora from falling victim to these suspicious campaigns, Mr. Firas Kiwan reached out to us and requested to use the SAS Foundation's official account in the U.S. to launch the "Min Aal Abshir Ya Jabal al-Sultan" campaign given that it is a trusted and legally registered account in accordance with international regulations.

Following this, the remaining technical details were coordinated between Mr. Firas Kiwan, Dr. Mohammad Al-Saghbeen, and Mr. Nawras Al-Saghbeen (Reis Nakhleh).
The "Min Aal Abshir Ya Jabal al-Sultan" campaign was officially launched.

From our position on the Board of Directors of the Syrian American Society (SAS) we would like to sincerely thank all our generous donors. Your noble contributions are deeply appreciated and not surprising given your ongoing commitment.

All funds collected, and those still being received, through the SAS account are held in trust and will be used to serve the people of Swaida. This will be done in coordination with committees across the diaspora and with associations and organizations inside Syria.

A priority action plan has been put in place, and efforts are currently underway through our on-the-ground team. At present, funds are being sent to support students and families in Jaramana and to provide aid to displaced families within Swaida.

Tomorrow, we will announce the internal relief committee and begin providing regular updates on the progress of humanitarian efforts.
