Sessions may include whatever makes the client happy and relaxed, such as spooning in bed, talking over tea, reading to each other while snuggling on the sofa, even “movie night”.
Similar businesses, such as The Snuggery in Rockester, NY and Cuddle Up to Me in Portland, OR see a steady influx of the cuddle-curious as well as a loyal following of regulars, and have garnered national and international attention.
The crowd-funding target is set at $9,000 to cover six months rent on the salon and business necessities such as a website, phone, logo design, as well as furnishings and amenities. Tucker plans to begin with one location in a salon suite such as Sola Salon and wants to expand to at least three locations within two years.
Sessions will cost $60 for one hour, with shorter and longer options available. Clients can opt to cuddle, watch a movie together, be read to, or simply enjoy a cup of tea and pleasant conversation in the quiet atmosphere of the salon. Sessions are by appointment only.
Prior to scheduling their first session, clients will meet with a Cuddler in a neutral public location, such as a coffee shop, to discuss policies and expectation and to get to know one another.
No nudity or sexual contact will be tolerated. Video cameras will be in use during all sessions for the security of everyone involved.
The first The Holding Company (location to be determined) is projected to open in February, 2015.
