Precision Equine Solutions, Inc. Supports Equine Charity Work in Arizona

Retired horses bring healing and hope to those in Arizona with disabling conditions

In the San Tan Valley south of Phoenix, Arizona there is an extraordinary place where children and adults who live with disabling conditions ride horses and magic happens!  Those who could not speak become more vocal and socially engaged, stroke survivors and those that labor to walk become more mobile. Families find hope.

Hoofbeats with Heart is a non-profit charity where clients and the therapy horses they ride are bound by a common thread, both struggle with mobility.

"We see miracles like this quite often at Hoofbeats," reflects Hullihen, "we are really changing lives here."

Kelley Hullihen, Executive Director

Precision Equine Solutions, Inc. headquartered in Austin, Texas supports the charitable work of Hoofbeats with Heart Equine Therapeutic Riding Center by donating Precision Joint SolutionTM, a new equine supplement developed expressly to naturally relieve pain and recover mobility giving nine retired show horses turned therapy horses a second life. “One of those horses is Riley who plays a big part in the therapy program,” says Kelley Hullihen, Hoofbeats Executive Director.

Looking at Riley standing in the corral, you wouldn't think much of him. He is a 22-year old Quarter horse gelding with lots of grey around his muzzle and big brown eyes. He was retired after developing an arthritic joint condition called Ringbone that can cause great pain and discomfort and donated to Hoofbeats as a therapy horse. Riley was too sore for even light work. “When we put our therapy horses on Precision Joint Solution, in just a few weeks we saw a huge difference in their comfort level and the way they moved,” says Hullihen. “Riley was no longer struggling to get around.  He is now our go-to guy for anyone who wants more ‘slow’ than ‘go’. He is popular in all four of our therapy programs.”

Precision Joint Solution is helping Riley and Riley is helping Larry Bobko to regain his confidence and find hope in his “new normal” after his stroke. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UJcEBTrPYA.  Hoofbeats and the Dignity Health Foundation-East Valley partner together in a Hippotherapy program helping stroke survivors reclaim their mobility.

Precision Joint Solution all-in-one leg support is the only product on the market specifically designed to support the entire leg system.  Cherie Hecht, former Arizona resident, and developer of the all-natural supplement, explains how the product works. “For horses like Riley with compromised joints, the combination of our unique ingredients not only helps support the joints, but also soft tissue, cartilage, and bone while increasing overall comfort and mobility. The synergy of these active ingredients often produces results in less than 30 days. I can honestly say that I have never experienced a product that works as well as Precision all-in-one leg support. Riley is a perfect example of how Precision can help turn back the clock for these older horses.”

Riley is also helping Lyndsie Armstrong, a happy and confident pre-teen in the 6th grade with a great smile who likes hanging out with her cousin. Her big smile and “no stopping me” attitude belie the fact that her legs are paralyzed and there is an imbalance of fluid in her brain from Spina Bifida.  She struggles to walk with a walker and all too frequently falls. She relies totally on her upper body to do things most of us take for granted.  Lyndsie loves horses and riding because she says “When I am on a horse I am no different from anyone else.” Her mother Jennifer has observed, “Riding has helped Lyndsie emotionally.  She can get places using the horse’s legs. She has control of a part of her world that is often out of her control and she has developed so much confidence.”  He mother says riding has strengthened Lyndsie’s core muscles and improved her balance that allows her to catch herself before she falls.

It is not hard not to be in awe of these brave souls in broken bodies nor moved by their triumphs.  Local insurance broker and volunteer, Ken Stephens says “he was hooked” and became a supporter of Hoofbeats when he witnessed the parents of a child break down and cry because that child spoke for the first time in years.  “We see miracles like this quite often at Hoofbeats,” reflects Hullihen, “we are really changing lives here.”

Hoofbeats with Heart clients come in all ages from toddlers to seniors. The clients served present a wide variety of physical and emotional limitations. The charity deliberately has chosen not to limit services to individuals with particular disabilities because there is sound evidence that interacting with animals, especially horses, helps both children and adults with many medical and social challenges.

Hoofbeats serves up to 200 families a year, but in many states, including the State of Arizona, there is a waiting list for those who still need therapy services.

Hoofbeats with Heart is approved by the Department of Developmental Disabilities-State of Arizona and is the only center in Maricopa and Pinal Counties that provides Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy, Equine Facilitated Learning, Therapeutic Riding, Hippotherapy and a full range of services from licensed therapists.

The center is endorsed by the Veterans of the Army National Guard, Girl Scouts, and is in partnership with Dignity Health Foundation-East Valley.
