PPSS Launch Ultra Tough Cut Level 5 Gloves For Refuse Collectors and Street Cleaners

Ultra tough cut resistant gloves launched by PPSS to protect refuse collectors and street cleaners

A recent judgement of the Court of Appeal in London in favour of a street cleaner is expected to cost Hull City Council at least £100,000 in damages. PPSS have therefore launched tough cut level 5 and puncture resistance level 4 workwear gloves, using Cut-Tex® PRO.

Robert Kaiser, CEO of PPSS said: "The unfortunate incident involving Mr Threlfall in Hull will highlight once again the obligation all employers have to provide suitable hand protection to their employees."

"I am most certain that our new hard-wearing cut and puncture resistant gloves would have protected Mr Threlfall's artery and nerve in his little finger".

PPSS is using their new Blade Cut Resistance Level 5 textile Cut-Tex® PRO for their highly regarded range of cut resistant clothing, but that's not all said Robert Kaiser.

"We have added additional, highly flexible materials to the palm of the hand, in order to create BS EN 388:2003 Puncture Resistance Level 4, the highest level possible. The risk of hyperemic needles is simply too high in some of areas here in the UK".

The court ruled that Mr Threlfall's employers had failed to provide him with suitable cut-resistant gloves. The presiding judge said that the standard issue riggers gloves "were plainly not effective to prevent or adequately control the risk of laceration".

PPSS is specialised in manufacturing and supplying a range of standard and bespoke and certified cut resistant gloves, for both industrial and public sector applications.

Robert Kaiser states: "We are here to help. We would like to invite all refuse collection, street cleaning and waste management departments to contact us for free advice, or in case they have any unanswered questions or would like to see some product samples".
