PlanetHippo Internet Purchases I4hosting As Global Hosting Growth Hots Up
Online, March 4, 2013 (Newswire.com) - With leading Wall Street listed company Rackspace announcing record profits last quarter, other web hosting companies all over the world are capitalising on the growth of web hosting as the world rapidly switches over to online interaction for personal and business use. UK based hosting company Planethippo Internet have moved to acquire I4hosting, another successful web hosting company. The move will place the UK company of Planethippo towards the forefront of the UK web hosting scene. Planethippo Internet are the child company of Ocean Telecom (UK), a Shropshire based mobile telephone provider which branched off into providing online services in 2006.
The parent company is known for having widely publicised success in offering telephone services to companies and winning several local business awards. "Acquiring a successful UK hosting company is a great asset to our portfolio and towards our strategy going forward," announced Jeremy Rose, MD of Ocean Telecom (UK) Ltd. "i4Hosting will allow us to provide e-Commerce and hosting solutions for a wider audience. It also will allow us to provide a better service to existing retail clients and cater for the increasing popularity of internet based applications."
Although there are worries that the phenomenal growth in web hosting will start to slow, this slow down is thought to be because of the general trend towards cloud based servers. This train of thought however has not prevented many top industry analysts from forecasting that the global market for web hosting services will reach $107 billion by the year 2018. The growth is expected to be fuelled by the increasing popularity of social media, portable devices to access the internet and greater demand for hosted services.
