Just over a year ago, Candace Perry's second younger brother graduated from the United States Naval Academy. At the graduation she shot a photo of her brothers that won her a camera, later allowing her to start a fashion photography business.

After the USNA graduation ceremony on May 28th, 2010, Candace saw her two younger brothers, Chris, USMC 1st. Lt., and Craig, USMC 2nd Lt., walking up a hill at the stadium together. Feeling that the moment was symbolic of their individual journeys into the War on Terror from the same starting point, she managed to snap a candid shot with her then malfunctioning camera before they disappeared over the crest.

Later that year she submitted the photo entitled "Brothers in Arms" to the Air 1 Radio Freeze Frame contest, a national photography contest for candid photography. Over the course of a week and 3 rounds of voting, Candace solicited the votes of her friends and strangers alike using social media to beat out other competitors across the country, eventually winning over $1,000 towards the purchase of a brand-new Canon 50D. She believes that the camera was a gift from God and after discovering a hidden talent for photography, she became a wedding/family photographer in Savannah, Georgia, under candacenicolePHOTO (http://www.candacenicolephoto.com).

After several successful shoots, Candace decided that her real passion was for fashion photography, and June 2011 she launched FASHIONSHOTS (http://www.fashion-shots.com). Utilizing her own background in commercial print & lifestyle modeling, Candace dreams up creative, colorful concepts for every shoot, often working with local hairstylists, makeup artists, and wardrobe stylists to provide magazine-quality, on-location fashion photography to models and actors. Her services are also available to high school seniors, moms, and anyone else that wants to look like a model for a day.

Never forgetting that it was the photo of her brothers that started it all, "Brothers in Arms" has since become a fine art gallery wrap piece and is available for purchase on Candace's website (http://www.candacenicolephoto.com/blog/brothers-in-arms). She hopes that it will continue to inspire patriotism among viewers and remind them to thank the men and women that serve our beautiful country.
