Phoenix Events Shares Favorite Career Tips With Students
Phoenix, September 25, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Britt J., Phoenix Events’ president, recommended that college students start considering their career plans now. “Of course college is a great time to meet people and develop lifelong friendships,” she said. “However, you are making a huge investment in your future. You want to make sure it pays dividends later.”
"Once you know your path, it's time to start planning,"
Britt , President
One of the Phoenix Events team’s recommendations is to start researching career options early. Britt started building her client portfolio when she was finishing her last year of college. “First determine your passions in life. These are the activities or areas of interest in which you can easily lose track of time,” Britt suggested. “Ask yourself how you can make a career out of it. Do some research and understand your options. The knowledge you acquire in many disciplines can be applied to a multitude of roles. Use this information to plan your career five to 10 years down the road, or further. ”
“Once you know your path, it’s time to start planning,” Britt shared. “For example, you’ll want to speak with individuals in that field, and gain a complete understanding of the necessary skills and training you’ll need in order to be considered for possible positions. Collaborate with your career planning office and advisors on how to register for the appropriate classes.”
Phoenix Events’ President Discusses Practical Experience
Britt noted that college students are often challenged in finding the practical experience needed to qualify for positions post-graduation. “Internships are some of the best ways to gain hands-on knowledge that will be applicable to your field,” she noted. “Also, if you intern at a few different companies during college, you’ll gain insights into various industries, as well as an understanding of the mechanisms of the field.”
“The other benefit of internships is that you’ll gain mentors and begin building your professional network early,” Britt added. “We encourage our Phoenix Events interns to make as many connections as possible.”
“College is a unique transition time for many young people,” Britt concluded. “You’re discovering who you are and what you want your contribution to the world to be. Enjoy the moment but use it wisely. Graduation will be here before long and you’ll want to see the ROI on your educational investment. Now is the time to position yourself for a bright and promising future.”
