Peruvian President Visits His Students In Agrostudies Program In Israel Congratulating Agricultural Cooperation Between The Two Countries
Online, February 20, 2014 (Newswire.com) - During his visit in Israel this week, President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, made it clear he considers Agrostudies' internship program as one of the highlights of the Peruvian presence in Israel. He mentioned this during his meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres.
This is the second year students from Peru are taking part in the Agrostudies program. The program is an 11 month internship in advanced agriculture, during which students gain practical experience on technological farms throughout the country and expand their theoretical knowledge by attending classes on 3 different campuses and visiting professional exhibitions throughout their stay.
During his visit President Ollanta Humala commented on the importance of collaboration between the countries as Peru strives to strengthen its agricultural industry and technology.
In his meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister he noted:
"We would like to thank Israel for its policy of cooperation, particularly in the fields of agriculture and water management. We currently have Peruvian students in Israel studying Agricultural methods. We appreciate this and as we wish to work together to develop our young generations' skills. I would like to note that one of Peru's goals is the strengthening of its industry and technology and we wish to work on technological exchanges, which is, as we understand, one of Israel's strongest points."
President Humala took time later in the week to meet the Peruvian students and the Agrostudies staff personally and congratulate them on their work.
The Agrostudies program is developing new partnerships in the private sector, creating new employment opportunities for skilled graduates of the program. A good example is the partnership with Israel's Lin farms, currently developing an Apiculture project in Peru.
