Performance Physical Therapy Recognized for Exceptional Patient Care by CMS for 3rd Consecutive Year

New England leader in physical therapy receives accolade

Performance PT Patient Care

For the third year in a row, Performance Physical Therapy has earned The Center for Medicare and Medicaid's (CMS) "Exceptional Performer" status. This distinction is given only to practices and providers who participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and have demonstrated exceptional quality of care and a focus on patients' health outcomes while reducing overall healthcare costs for patients. By earning this recognition yet again, Performance is being placed among the top tier of providers and physical therapy practices nationwide when it comes to patient care.

"Our patients are always our top priority," says Michelle Collie, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, CEO. "This recognition acknowledges that we are honoring that priority and are fulfilling our mission every day — empowering people to feel better, move fully, and live freely."

Performance PT has participated in CMS's Quality Payment Program (QPP) since 2019 and has exceeded the exceptional performance threshold for three consecutive years. The focus of the QPP and MIPS programs are designed to tie healthcare payments to quality of care, drive improvement in care processes and health outcomes, increase the use of healthcare information and reduce the cost of healthcare. By participating in these programs that align care and treatment results with reimbursement, Performance Physical Therapy aims to address and combat challenges in the U.S. healthcare system while remaining focused on our ultimate goal — quality care for patients.

"We're here to revolutionize physical therapy," adds Collie, who serves as president of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Rhode Island Chapter. "We do this by questioning the status quo, challenging our clinicians to innovate and giving them resources to grow, and embracing the processes, technology and programs that allow us to prioritize customized, quality care for our patients."

Named an 8-time Rhode Island Best Places to Work and APTA's private practice of the year, Performance Physical Therapy has over 20 clinic locations in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts. Learn more at www.performanceptri.com.
