PDUs Direct Announces a New Power Distribution Accessory Page

PDUs Direct offers Server Technology products, providing premium quality Rack PDUs without the premium price.

PDUs Direct, a supplier of Server Technology's in-rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs), has added an accessories page to their website. The accessory page can be found at pdusdirect.com/power-distribution-units/accessories/, and includes power input cords, device connector cords, and environmental monitoring probes.

While each power distribution unit is shipped with a customer chosen 20A input power cord, customers often need additional cords or a variety of plug types. 15A power cords are easy to find, but 20A cords are a little more difficult. After numerous requests from customers for additional cordage, we decided to offer our cord options on the site. For 110V rack PDUs three plug types are offered. The 5-15P fits your standard domestic wall outlet. The 5-20P is very similar to the 5-15 with one of the prongs turned 90 degrees, and the locking L5-20P is a twist lock plug that provides a more secure connection. For 208V PDUs the L6-20P cord is offered with a twist lock connector.

When using equipment with universal power supplies, 208V power allows a simple method to increase density. Operating at 208V draws nearly half the amp load compared to 110V operations. The PDUs Direct's 208V devices use C13 outlets. These outlets have a low profile, and allow for more connections in a smaller form factor. To facilitate their use PDUs Direct offers 8 packs of 6 foot C13-C14 power cords used to connect severs to the PDUs. These connectors are also designed to work with the included cable retention clips that keep the cord connections secure.

Last, but by no means least, are the EMTH probes used with the integrated environmental monitoring. These probes connect to switched PDUs and allow for remote monitoring of temperature and humidity through the network remote power management interface. The probes are on ten foot cords allowing placement flexibility, and the switched PDUs have two connection ports. As a best practice application, many users place one probe at the lower front of the rack, to measure cold isle intake, and the other at the top rear of the rack, to measure hot exhaust.

PDUs Direct is dedicated to supporting our customers with all their power distribution requirements. Additional products are being evaluated for possible inclusion. As we find other items of value to our customers, we will add them to the site. These are primarily driven by consumer inquiries so feel free to submit your requests to support@pdusdirect.com.
