'Party in the Pit' Set to Rock for Rebuilding Efforts

Mid-Atlantic’s musical mainstay The Doug Segree Band, 1Nite Stand featuring key members of Maryland’s Top Party Rock Band Misspent Youth, Baltimore rockers Charm City Devils and American rock band Nine Days will perform live at “Party in the Pit,” presented by Apple Ford Lincoln, from 6-11 p.m. Oct. 14 at Merriweather Post Pavilion (MPP), 10475 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

In addition to Apple Ford Lincoln as the event's presenting sponsor, CFG Community Bank will be the event's Food and Beverage sponsor.  They will be joined by Double Platinum Sponsors including Davis, Agnor, Rapaport & Skalny, LLC, The Howard Hughes Corporation, and Williamsburg Homes, LLC. Prior to the official event announcement, the Party in the Pit has already secured over $100,000 in sponsorships and numerous in-kind donations. Along those lines, Merriweather continues their generosity as the event host after already allowing the relocation of Ellicott City's Main Street Music Fest to MPP on September 24.

General admission tickets for the concert go on sale today for $25. Proceeds from the epic benefit concert, including food and beverage sales, will go directly to the Ellicott City Partnership, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and all funds will be used to help with recovering and rebuilding the historic city in the wake of July’s unimaginable flood.

“Party in the Pit” is hosted by Howard County Councilman Greg Fox along with special guest hosts County Executive Allan Kittleman, Senator Gail Bates, Delegate Bob Flanagan and Councilman Jon Weinstein who represent Historic Ellicott City. This is a bi-partisan effort with additional elected officials from both parties expected to be in attendance.

The Doug Segree Band will kick things off. In addition to rockin’ to the party favorites, they will playing songs off their upcoming record release – produced and recorded by famed LA producer Rich Jacques. Having toured the East Coast steadily for the last 15 years, Segree and company can regularly be seen playing fifth quarter club level parties for every Washington Redskins home game at FedEx Field and helping summer beachgoers relax on Sundays at the Starboard.

Up next is 1Nite Stand featuring John Bisaha, lead singer for the Babys, along with Babette, Holly Bisaha, Buddy Allen from the Rick Derringer Band, Chicago-land keyboard killer Rick Ippolito, local guitar legend Pat Hand, and drum hero Jay Munn. They will team with Dixon Ulmer and Lorenzo Ascoli from Howard County's own award-winning cover band Misspent Youth.  Hand, Ulmer, and Ascoli have teamed with these and other top rock musicians for previous charitable events, but this is expected to be the best yet for these three Howard County natives.

Headlining the event is Nine Days. Nine Days struck a chord with fans and critics with the relentlessly catchy “Absolutely (Story of a Girl).” The memorable single, which takes Gen Xers back to another time and place, hit the top of the charts in 2000 and propelled the band’s major label debut, “The Madding Crowd,” to go gold.  Just last month, they released their new album, “Snapshots.” When the opportunity to be part of this event was present, Nine Days couldn't say no.

Wrapping up the night is the in-your-face modern rock of the Charm City Devils, direct from Baltimore. Since 2008, the band has maintained its original lineup, and has toured with rock legends such as Motley Crue and Godsmack, while forging a rock ‘n’ roll identity that is purely their own.  Lead singer, John Allen, is from Ellicott City and was looking for a way to give back and Party in the Pit was a perfect fit.

Prior to the main event, well-known local musician Damon Foreman will entertain guests with his sophisticated jazz at the VIP Reception backstage. For more information on the VIP Reception, to purchase tickets, and other Party in the Pit details, please visit www.partyinthepit.com.
