Parrot Voice-Controlled Bluetooth Kits Offer Canadians Safe, Hands-Free Options

Parrot, a global leader in wireless devices for mobile phones, announces options for drivers in Ontario as the hands-free law takes effect in late October.

Paris, OCTOBER 26, 2009 - Parrot, a global leader in wireless devices for mobile phones, announces options for drivers in Ontario as the hands-free law takes effect in late October.

With many hands-free options available, Parrot provides the most comprehensive suite of Bluetooth products for drivers, from installed car stereos with a hidden iPod compartment to cordless hands-free kits that slide onto a visor. Parrot's hands-free kits combine style, function and a wide range of price points to fit every budget.

"Whenever a new state or province passes a hands-free law, drivers need to alter habits to comply with the new rules," said Kelly Zachos, director of marketing North America for Parrot. "Parrot's intuitive and easy-to-use hands-free kits make driving safer while not compromising on sound quality."

Ontario's hands-free law is scheduled to take effect on Oct. 26, when it will become an offense for drivers to use a mobile phone with their hands while driving. According to Transport Canada, the department estimates that driver distraction is a contributing factor in about 20 percent of all collisions.

To keep drivers' hands on the wheel and focused on the road, Parrot's hands-free options include:

Parrot Minikit Slim: a portable Bluetooth hands-free kit that can be used in the car, in the office and at home. Its highly intuitive interface automatically connects to a Bluetooth phone when nearby. Fixed to the sun visor or laid on a table, it adapts to every environment and can easily be transported.

Parrot RKi8400: an FM/AM RDS car stereo that features multiple connections for digital music including USB port for portable hard drive or USB key, SD card reader and a double line-in socket for analogue sources. The practical storage compartment located behind the removable front panel is ideal for protecting and recharging the iPhone™ and iPod.

Parrot MKi9200: a Bluetooth hands-free system with a 2.4-inch high-resolution TFT color screen. A wireless remote control can be positioned on the steering wheel or dashboard and allows the driver to control all the functions of the MKi9200, training-free multi-speaker voice recognition, speech synthesis of the names in the phonebook, contact management and call records. The Parrot MKi9200 is compatible with all music sources, such as iPods, iPhones, USB flash drives, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) phones and MP3 players.
