Paragon Pools Hosts 11th Annual Float Like A Duck on Saturday, May 24, 2014
Online, April 16, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The 11th Annual Float Like A Duck™, a major public awareness campaign created by Paragon Pools with an emphasis on water safety is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 1-4 pm at the Heinrich YMCA Water Sports Park, 4141Meadows Lane in Las Vegas, NV. Duckie, the official water safety mascot invites the public to join him for an afternoon of fun and informative activities. The event is FREE and open to the public, children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
Educating the public on the importance of safety while celebrating the joys of water sports, the annual event will focus on ENFORCING the ABC&D's of water safety, with a BIG emphasis on A-adult supervision.
Water safety advocate and president of Paragon Pools, Joseph M. Vassallo, CBP states, "I feel it is everyone's responsibility to learn and enforce proper water safety practices. Adults should not become complacent when family members are participating in water sports or when living near any water environment... be it a pool, spa, fountain, beach or lake."
Duckie and Vassallo are delighted that the campaign has become such a successful program. Over the years, thousands have been exposed to floating and other lifesaving skills. "We are very proud to partner with our cities first responders, the health department, prominent news media, fellow businesses and the YMCA to host this important event year-after-year."
The three-hour event features exhibits, hands-on activities, learn-to-float classes, and open swimming in the YMCA water park. In addition, Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony is scheduled to stop by and a fire truck will be on display.
Duckie receives assistance from the following organizations in promoting water safety: the YMCA, KVVU-Fox-5 Meteorologist Ted Pretty, Las Vegas Metro, Mascot McGruff, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Danny Romero Designs, KTNV-TV13, the APSP, UMC Children's Hospital, LV Metro Volunteer Police, Pictographics, the City of Las Vegas, the SNCDPC and the SNHD.
