Paddleboarding Up the Econ River with Paddleboard Jack and the Alligators

If you thought paddleboarding is a little too sedate for your average WideWorld reader, we added alligator infested waters and a knife wielding tour guide for a real adrenaline rush.

Paddleboarding might not provide the adrenaline rush the average WideWorld reader is looking for, so we sent our writer along for a paddleboard safari on Florida's Econlockhatchee river. The Econ River Wilderness Area is a 240 acre park of pines and swamps which is home to an abundance of wildlife including sandhill cranes, bald eagles, ospreys, hawks, deer... and alligators!

Unlike crocodiles which are known for their aggression, alligators rarely attack humans - they generally sit still on the riverbed, mouths open, waiting for a passing meal. This makes it pretty important not to fall off your board and stick you foot in the alligator's mouth. Still, with America's answer to Crocodile Dundee for a guide; Paddleboard Jack, armed only with his "Gator knife", ensures nothing untoward happened as our intrepid writer was pursued by a 12 foot monster!
