Pace Events Looks Forward to Networking at Leadership Conference

A future leadership conference will present the Pace Events team with the opportunity to enhance their networking acumen. The firm's director of operations discusses the event and offers some of his favorite networking tips.

The leaders at Pace Events have always emphasized shared travel experiences as team-strengthening pursuits. As Andrew, the company’s director of operations, commented, “Whether it’s an industry conference, corporate retreat, or just a group outing to a ballgame, we always try to find opportunities to build our team away from the office. I believe that getting a fresh perspective on their work allows them to come back to our home base rejuvenated and more motivated to achieve results.”

In the up coming conference, the firm’s associates will grow closer together while also interacting with top performers from across the country and learn valuable leadership lessons. “Our team members will gain insight into what makes some of the most influential leaders in our industry so successful,” added the director. “Just being in the same room with these innovators is pretty special, so to have the chance to get up close and personal with them and actually discuss the latest trends and techniques is an amazing opportunity.”

"It's important to go in prepared and not be overwhelmed by how crowded or hectic an event might be."

Andrew, Director of Operations

Andrew and the rest of the firm’s leaders are looking forward to this team-building getaway. They know that their professionals will come back to work ready to set and strive toward ambitious new goals.

Pace Events’ Director of Operations Offers Tips for Successful Networking

“I understand that networking doesn’t come easily for everyone,” noted Andrew. “That’s why I always remind my team of a few important things before we attend an industry gathering or any type of networking situation. It’s important to go in prepared and not be overwhelmed by how crowded or hectic an event might be.”

The first tip the director gives his associates is to focus on making one or two meaningful connections during an event. As he explained, “Time is always an issue when you’re trying to forge a real connection with a potentially helpful business contact. If you’re too focused on building up a long list of contacts, you’ll probably end up not making much of an impression on anyone.”

It’s also preferable to ask open-ended questions in networking situations, and Andrew always makes sure to tell his team members to do so. “You won’t learn much by monopolizing a conversation, and simple yes or no questions also won’t help,” he added. “By asking questions that encourage the other person to elaborate, you’ll make him or her feel more comfortable and find out how you might be able to help each other.”
