Owner of Hair Salon in Lafayette, Indiana Imprisoned
Online, August 25, 2010 (Newswire.com) - One of the hair salons in Lafayette, IN is making the best of a bad situation. Bethany Tyrrell, owner of Bliss Salon and Spa, has been summoned to jail until she can raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Bliss Salon announced that it will match donations until their target has been reached.
When asked how she got her salon involved with the MDA Lockup, she grinned and replied, "Someone anonymously put out a warrant for my arrest. At first I was upset to hear the news, but then I realized the importance of the MDA Lockout program. Once I realized that our fund raising efforts would help send children to camps, I decided to have Bliss match donations of our customers."
The MDA Lock-Up will be held on August 25, 2010 at Texas Roadhouse in Lafayette, Indiana. The "prisoners" are people in the greater Lafayette community who are nominated to serve prison time until they can raise bail money. Tax deductible donations to the MDA helps to continue research in the treatments and cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases. The donations also help MDA provide services to patients in Tippecanoe County including assistance with the purchase of wheelchairs and leg braces, clinic visits, support groups and a week-long summer camp for kids.
Bliss Salon and Spa has agreed to match customer donations up to the point where the $1,600 bail is raised. Tyrrell adds, "Once I realized that our customers' donations would help MDA kids attend summer camps, I decided to make a commitment for Bliss to raise a minimum of the bail amount of $1,600. We sent out a couple of notices to our clients and they have really responded."
Donations to the MDA can be made by contacting Bliss Salon and Spa at (765) 807-0343 or visiting the Bliss Salon and Spa website for a link to the MDA donation site.
