Out Of Reach: Captivating, Daring, Heartbreaking Memoir By Palestinian-American Author, Layla Noor

Out of Reach is the upcoming publication by Palestinian - American author Layla Noor, a collection of her memoirs and memories spanning several decades and following the challenges and achievements of a young liberal woman with a dream.

Layla Noor was born in Gaza in 1946, during the height of conflict in Palestine. After attending Sorbonne University in Paris for a number of years, she settled down in Abu Dhabi with her husband, a highly successful Palestinian businessman. Through her first marriage, the author witnessed the exponential growth of the United Arab Emirates, from dry desert land to one of the world's most wealthy and popular destinations. With these financial and cultural progressions came a new luxury lifestyle for Layla and her two children.

Out of Reach chronicles the most notable aspects of Layla Noor's eventful life, from near-death experiences and multiple tragic heartbreaks, to the strength and resilience which would see her succeed in the face of so much adversity.

However, Out of Reach reveals the speed with which our fortunes can change in the blink of an eye. Suffering bankruptcy and constant relocation, Layla eventually found herself in Beirut during the Israeli invasion of 1982. After twenty-two days without water or electricity, the author escaped to Cyprus. Here she spent ten years rebuilding her life, only for disaster to again strike in the form of bankruptcy and divorce.

Layla Noor's exciting memoirs follow her route from the Middle East to the United States of America, following her marriage to Robert, an American businessman. The author's original excitement at the prospect of a fresh start and future success was soon dampened, however. In a tragic case of de ja vu, Out of Reach details the author's second fall from a luxury home and happy family life, to loneliness and heartbreak. The publication highlights the true strength of the human spirit, as readers follow the next chapter of the author's tumultuous and unpredictable life.

Following her life in America, Out of Reach covers the author's move to London, where she studied interior decorating, before relocating back to the United States amid the height of post 9/11 racial stereotyping. Layla had to disguise her country of origin in order to find a job.
Readers will learn of the author's romance with Jake, a Jewish American. As a Palestinian Muslim and American Jew, the unlikely relationship poses as a symbol of the surprising situations in which love can be found.

However, in what is both a valuable life lesson and a theme of Out of Reach, appearances are not always what they seem. Readers will discover the secrets which eventually ended this promising and dramatic relationship, and discover the true extent of the author's resilience. Through the journey of her life, readers will smile, laugh and cry as Layla takes them on a journey through many exotic locations and strong emotions.

Out of Reach will be available to buy on Amazon from January 2014 and other leading bookstores. Layla Noor's positive attitude and unwillingness to give up serve as an inspiration to any reader and a testament to people's ability to look past their differences and origins.

A compelling story of an outgoing, independent Middle Eastern woman who lives life to the fullest and has learned the harsh lessons of her life through, romance loss and deceit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read., February 11, 2014

I enjoyed this book very much. The stories are weaved beautifully from decade to decade telling this woman's exciting and many times painful journey while the reader travels along starting in Palestine, then Kuwait, the UAE, Paris & Europe and finally her move to America. All the while introducing you to the characters and influences she came across. It makes you wonder how some people are born, raised and spend their whole lives in one place, one town, city or village while others roam this earth as though it were one big country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, February 6, 2014

An inspiring story I didn't want to put down. A blend of history, international travel, a romance novel, all rolled into one and an insight into different cultures that can come together in love and heartbreak. It shows us all there is always hope, even in the bleakest of times, and we can overcome life's difficult times if we just believe in ourselves..

Layla seems to be a very strong and independent woman who knows what she wants, I wish her luck in her future endeavours and relationships..
