Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education Receives $100,000 From SNCF America

South Florida Jewish education nonprofit receives $100,000 from SNCF America, Inc. to enhance the ongoing educational activities of the Broward County March of the Living.

The Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education (Orloff CAJE) has received a gift of $100,000 from SNCF America, Inc., a subsidiary of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français, the state-owned national railway of France, to establish the SNCF Education Fund for the March of the Living. The fund will be used over the next five years to enhance the ongoing educational activities of the Broward County March of the Living, a program of the Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education.

Rochelle Baltuch, Director of the March of the Living in Broward County, indicated that “we are deeply appreciative of this gift from SNCF America and for SNCF’s foresight and strong dedication and commitment to Holocaust education. This gift will help Orloff CAJE’s March of the Living program continue to provide and enhance the tools the participants will need to understand, not only the Holocaust, but to go beyond  the trip’s experience in learning about tolerance, indifference and standing up for beliefs.”

Orloff CAJE was one of five organizations selected to receive funding from SNCF America, along with the Anti-Defamation League, Florida Atlantic University’s  Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education, Simon Wiesenthal Center and U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

“SNCF America is dedicated to supporting Holocaust education in order to motivate younger generations to become activists for peace and promote respect between human beings,” said Alain Leray, president and CEO of SNCF America. “The March of the Living has a track record which speaks for itself. We fully trust the director and staff of the Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education’s March of the Living program to train the participants to meet the goals of the program.”

For more than 25 years, SNCF has been engaged in historical research, transparency initiatives, and remembrance activities related to its history during World War II. SNCF’s leadership believes that education is central to ensuring that lessons learned during and after the Holocaust are remembered and taught to young people today.
