Operator-Friendly Compact Horizontal Cartoner Easily Integrates Into Packaging Lines
Online, May 11, 2011 (Newswire.com) - ESS Technologies, Inc. introduces the SC Series Automatic Horizontal Cartoners. The compact design is available in two configurations to accommodate either narrow or wide pitches, allowing the cartoners to handle a range of carton sizes. The machine footprint requires less factory floor space than most available cartoners, allowing manufacturers to easily integrate the cartoner into an existing packaging line. A variety of infeed configurations exist, including a TaskMate™ robotic infeed with a FANUC robot and ESS-designed end-of-arm tooling to pick the product from a collating conveyor and place it in the cartoner bucket conveyor. The large capacity carton magazine includes digital hand wheel adjustments for very fast size changeover. The Model SC 60 handles up to 60 cartons per minute while the Model SC 150 can handle up to 150 cartons per minute.
The SC Series cartoning machines may use intermittent or continuous motion, depending on the required speed, and they handle pre-glued cartons with straight or reverse tuck-in closure. The machines also accommodate a glue closing application and automatic product feeding systems. The SC Series may be servo driven and uses stainless steel skirting on the base with a balcony design incorporating a rear main drive. All mechanical movements are mounted with self-lubricating bushings and bearings. The "balcony construction" guarantees complete accessibility to all areas and easy cleaning.
Ideal for packaging pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, and consumer goods, the new SC Series features an Allen Bradley CompactLogix® control platform and comes standard with an AB PanelViewPlus® 600 HMI touch screen display. Digital indicators located with the adjusting points allow for quick and simple size changeover. The feature-rich system offers a variety of options, including: pre-folded leaflet, coupon or booklet inserters; embossed, inkjet, or laser coding, and code readers for verification for leaflets, carton blanks, or filled cartons. The cartoner discharge may be integrated with labelers and case packers to provide a complete solution for end-of-line packaging.
