Ontario Literacy Charity to Receive Digital Makeover

iNotForProfit announces Project READ as winner of the #ChampionForCharity Digital Makeover contest.

Today, iNotForProfit, a pioneer in the charitable tech space, is announcing the winner of their Digital Makeover contest.

Project READ, an Ontario literacy charity, will be receiving a comprehensive digital and online makeover, including a mobile app and much more.

Literacy touches everyone in Canada, affecting everything from employment to parenting in our society. In 2003, Statistics Canada reported that about 47% of Canadians, 16 years of age and older, didn't have the necessary literacy skills to function well in Canadian society[1]. Project READ's mission is to promote and provide literacy, and other essential skills, to help people reach their full potential.

The Digital Makeover will allow Project READ to leverage the benefits of the digital world to better fundraise, reach volunteers, and go above and beyond to execute their mission. The Digital Makeover will also help them to connect with those in need and better assist those who are helping to change the community.

"We are extremely excited! We have not received a funding increase in over 14 years, and in today's world where everything is becoming more and more digital, we need help to get our organization up to speed to assist adult learners and families with literacy needs. Winning the iNotForProfit Digital Makeover will make that possible!" - Jane Tuer, Executive Program Director Project READ

The BABU Project, a close second place, will be receiving a mobile app to help them stay connected with their ever-growing mobile population. Their mission is to improve child health and health care through preventative and curative medicine in Nepal

iNotForProfit will work hand-in-hand with Project READ over the next year to implement their digital makeover, and with BABU the next few months to develop their app. "We couldn't be more excited to help a charity like Project READ, whose dedication to the community, and the people whose lives they change everyday, is so inspiring." says iNotForProfit CEO, Jonathan Grover. "We see the potential in technology to transform philanthropy, and couldn't be happier that now it will help these two nonprofits better to connect with their communities, spread their message, change the world."

Follow iNotForProfit or Project READ on Twitter to get updates on the digital makeover, and stay up-to-date with the BABU Project to find out when they'll launch their app!
