Online Best Costume Contest Launches
Online, September 19, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Dayton, Ohio September 18, 2009 - The Halloween 2009 Best Costume Contest begins accepting entries in 6 categories. Registration is free. Entrants upload a favorite costume photo, choose a category and write a short description about the costume. Voting is done by visitors to the site. The photo with the most votes in each category wins a prize.
The contest will run for 5 weeks from September 18th through October 25th the winners will be announced on October 26th. One Winner will be named in each of 6 categories; Adult Costume, Baby Costume, Child Costume, Couple/Group Costume, Pet Costume and Teen Costume. The photo with the most votes will be declared the Grand Prize winner.
Entrants can easily link their submission to their FaceBook® or MySpace® pages as well as tweet about it through Twitter®. This "social interaction will be key to winning the contest" stated Steve Stackman, a spokesperson for the costume contest. He continued; "Unlike most contests where the contest operators judge the entries and choose a winner, no one involved at BestCostumeContest.com will have any say in who wins. It is entirely based on votes by visitors to the site. Telling your family and friends on the major social sites will definitely help your chances to win."
While the contest is the only one with prizes completely operated by a non-costume company, it does have sponsors offering prizes and gifts to entrants. "Companies as widely diverse as OurHandMadeJewelry.com and Mozy.com are offering gift certificates to the individual costume contest category winners. But when BuyCostumes.com, one of the largest online costume retailers, wanted to be a sponsor, we knew this was going to be something big" Stackman said. But we didn't want to just give prizes to the winners. We wanted everyone to get something just for entering the contest. And that's when our friends at Mozy.com stepped up again and offered to provide codes to get a free 2 gigabyte backup account to archive their precious pictures and valuable documents.
