Official Opening of Latecoere's Aerospace Factory in Mexico
Online, March 31, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The State Governor of Sonora, Guillermo Padres Elias, Frederic Michelland, President of Latecoere, and Eric Gillard, Chief Executive Officer of Latecoere, jointly offered a ceremony for the inauguration of their new manufacturing facility in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico on March 27, 2014.
The 80,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, which already employs over 250 people, currently produces on-board wiring systems for Airbus and fully assembles the Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger doors. This facility represents a strategic platform for the company in order to capture additional business in the North American market.
"Latecoere's investment in Sonora contributes significantly to the leadership of the State in the aerospace sector" stated Sonora Governor Guillermo Padres Elias. He added: "The Tier-1 status of Latecoere, which directly supplies the major aircraft companies of the world, increases our visibility with these major players and fuels the development of our local aerospace supply chain."
Frederic Michelland remarked, "From the inception of our project for Mexico to today's confirmation of our successful implementation, Latecoere has received an unparalleled support from the State Government Padres and the entire community." Among others, the State established an aerostructure assembly training program, which already produced numerous technicians, some of which completed their training in Toulouse at the company main assembly plant. For operational start-up, establishment of the legal entity, construction management, and daily administrative activities, Latecoere has worked closely with Grupo Prodensa, a Mexican professional services firm that assists companies growing and expanding their manufacturing footprint into Mexico.
