On Friday, July 12th, 2013, Chicago will be highlighted in a different light. Author, Quency L. Phillips, will kick-off his The Power of Numbers book tour in his hometown of Chicago. Recently Chicago summers have been glorified for senseless gun violence, but on this night, through the power of words and great company, the story will unfold differently.
The first novel from a trilogy of books visually walks the reader through the city of Chicago. The Power of Numbers is admittedly a savvy street tale that navigates the political, corporate and street world in a way that channels a Donald Goines novel. Mr. Phillips uses the backdrop of the city and its' issues to highlight a deeper understanding of the world we are now witnessing.
"Honestly, I did this for my city," Quency L. Phillips says. "This novel is my way of painting a picture of the city that I grew up admiring - a city that I still admire. One of my ways out was through reading, and I wanted to give a story that could provide young adults entertainment in the safest environment imaginable - their own minds."
The launch party follows the theme that is found within the novel. It's secretive in nature, and the only location details are that it will occur in a nice downtown setting. For one night, Chicago will be prominent for the success story that it has created with Mr. Phillips.
